A Florida Republican is facing calls to resign after claiming that Muslims are lower than dogs.
‘If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one,’ Congressman Randy Fine wrote on social media.
The post sparked furious condemnation from across the political spectrum on Monday.
California Governor Gavin Newsom posted on X: ‘Resign now, you racist slob.’
Conservative commentators including Megyn Kelly also criticized Fine. The former Fox host wrote: ‘Wtf is this.’
But Fine has since doubled down, posting memes showing dogs instead of a snake on the Don’t Tread on Me flag, a symbol of political defiance.
Right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos described Fine as ‘a man of low moral character, unfit to hold public office,’ before taking a shot at the politician’s weight.
UK commentator Piers Morgan called Fine a ‘disgusting pr**k.’
Florida Republican Congressman Randy Fine is being called on to resign given his latest social media post about Muslims
Fine was responding to a joke from Nerdeen Kiswani about banning dogs in NYC residences
Fine appeared to address the pushback to his comments with a pointed post to X and Facebook that featured a Don’t Tread on Me Style flag featuring a dog
‘I don’t think a dog would want to live with someone who would probably eat him if he didn’t get his daily 13 Extra Value meals,’ journalist Zaid Jilani said, criticizing Fine’s weight.
‘All human beings are created in the image of God,’ journalist Emily Jashinsky replied to fine, invoking Old Testament biblical scripture.
Fine later explained that his post was in reference to a Daily Mail story about Palestinian activists calling to ban dogs indoors in New York City, citing the practice as ‘unclean’ by Islamic standards.
‘Finally, NYC is coming to Islam. Dogs definitely have a place in society, just not as indoor pets,’ activist Nerdeen Kiswani wrote last week. ‘Like we’ve said all along, they are unclean.’
Fine, who is Jewish, has repeatedly made derogatory comments about Muslims since being elected to the House in 2025.
He taunted the death of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a Turkish-American woman who was shot and killed by Israeli military forces after throwing rocks at them in September 2024.
‘Throw rocks, get shot. One less #MuslimTerrorist. #FireAway,’ Fine wrote in celebration of the US citizen’s death.
Fine was again branded racist in July 2025 for a post responding to Ilhan Omar’s criticism of Benjamin Netanyahu during the Israeli prime minister’s visit to Washington DC.
‘I’m sure it is difficult to see us welcome the killer of so many of your fellow Muslim terrorists,’ he replied to Omar.
Fine was again slammed in December 2025 for claiming during a Capitol Hill hearing that he is unafraid to be labeled Islamophobic and that Muslims should be destroyed.
‘I don’t know how you make peace with those (Muslims) who seek your destruction, I think you destroy them first,’ he said.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Fine for comment.
