Sake, scallops and wagyu face hurdles in EU below packaging guidelines

BRUSSELS — New laws on meals packaging being thought of by the European Union might make it more durable for Japan to export signature merchandise like sake, scallops and wagyu beef to a significant world market.

The Council of the European Union and the European Parliament are set to start negotiations as early as Monday to finalize the measure, which, as soon as permitted, would take impact in 2030.
