Arpita Khan, sister of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, has filed a complaint over the theft of her diamond-encrusted gold jewellery, valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh, from her residence in suburban Khar area, Mumbai. The rapid action of the police led to the arrest of the domestic worker, accused of the robbery.

The incident happened on Monday and the 30-year-old suspect was arrested the next day in the Thane district, adjacent to Mumbai. The police are investigating the case and gathering more evidence to ensure a thorough investigation.
According to a PTI report, an official from the Khar Police Station said: “Defendant Sandip Hegde left with around Rs 5 lakhs worth of diamond-encrusted gold jewelery from Arpita Khan’s residence located at 17th Road in Khar. After the incident came to light, Arpita approached the police and filed a complaint.”
After receiving his complaint, the police launched an investigation and conducted a thorough examination of CCTV footage in the surrounding area, according to the official statement. The official further added: “With the help of technical and other inputs, the police nabbed the defendant on Tuesday from Thane for the alleged jewelry theft.”
He further mentioned that a case has been filed against the defendant under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 381 which deals with theft by an employee or servant. Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.
