Schools to resume 5-day classes from March 1 | The Express Tribune

Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood on Thursday announced that schools across the country will resume regular five-day classes from March 1, ending almost a year of online classes which were implemented to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The minister confirmed that all previous restrictions imposed on schools that caused the need to conduct staggered classes were only till Feb 28.

The education minister added that this announcement applied to all educational institutions situated in cities where restrictions pertaining to Covid-19 were imposed.

With coronavirus cases dropping across the country, the federal government also lifted the work from home policy for 50pc of staff, from public/private offices as well as lifting time limits for amusement parks and commercial activities.

The NCOC has also allowed indoor wedding ceremonies to resume from March 21, provided all mandatory SOP’s are followed.

Cinemas and shrines will also open from March 15, however, the NCOC has requested the public to continue to wear masks and practice social distancing. The policy of smart lockdowns may also be imposed when required.
