‘Severely disturbed by exam stress’, NIT Jamshedpur student dies by suicide

A 20-year-old B Tech student from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur allegedly died by suicide amid struggles with depression and exam stress, police said.

Police said Devyanshu Gandhi, a second-year computer science student, was on Friday night taken from a residential building to a hospital, where he was later declared dead.

The police said his father, Brij Kishor, a locomotive pilot, was in Jamshedpur at the time of the incident. The family, originally from Ranchi, had been living with Gandhi for the past six months owing to his deteriorating mental health, police said.
