SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities announced a shelter-in-place order in Sugar House on Friday due to a “police incident.”
The Utah Highway Patrol said residents within 1.5 miles of 1300 E. Parkway Avenue, 2445 South, should remain indoors and secure doors and windows.
“Do not attempt to leave the area until the all-clear is given,” the alert said.
On officer with the Salt Lake City Police Department said police were searching for someone in the area. He said a suspect fled from the Utah Highway Patrol and crashed at the given address.
A spokesperson with the Salt Lake City School District said Highland High School, Highland Park Elementary, Nibley Park School and Dilworth Elementary were placed on secure status, meaning operations inside continue as normal but doors are locked.
