In a daring 40-hour operation, the Indian Navy on Saturday coerced 35 Somali pirates to give up and rescued 17 crew members held hostage on a hijacked ship, the Navy mentioned in a press release.
Indian warship INS Kolkata sailed over 2,600 km and cornered the majority cargo vessel Ruen which was getting used as a pirate ship for 3 months after it was hijacked on December 14.

The excessive stakes rescue concerned a number of Navy vessels, drones, aircrafts and marine commandos.
As an Indian plane approached the hijacked ship, the pirates opened fireplace at it. In a video shared by the Navy, a pirate is seen strolling onto the deck of the ship and intention his gun on the plane hovering over the vessel and fireplace twice.

The pirates additionally attacked a Navy vessel because it intercepted the hijacked vessel.
After being attacked on Friday, Navy switched its stance to self-defence and demanded the pirates give up and launch the hostages.
On Saturday, the Navy efficiently took management of the ship with assist from patrol vessel INS Subhadra, Excessive Altitude Lengthy Endurance (HALE RPA) drones and P8I maritime patrol plane.
A squad of 8 marine commandos (MARCOS PRAHARs) have been then airdropped by a C-17 plane onto the vessel to detain the pirates and safely evacuate the crew.
