The cable channel mysteriously pulled a May 28 episode of its News magazine series “Vice” that would center on the Florida governor’s stint as a US Navy attorney at Guantanamo Bay. The report was titled “The Guantánamo candidate and chipping away”, described in a now scrubbed Showtime promotion as an investigation into “allegations by former Guantanamo Bay detainees that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis witnessed acts condemned by the United Nations as torture during his previous service in the controversial detention camp as Navy JAG officer,” the outlet noted.
Showtime told HuffPost that it does not comment on programming decisions. A “Vice” spokesperson said current affairs shows are subject to scheduling changes and that the episode’s airing is “still under discussion.”
HuffPost reached out to the DeSantis camp and did not immediately hear back.
