SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – A Siouxland-based nonprofit aimed at helping orphans in Tanzania held its largest fundraiser of the year tonight in Sioux City.
Project Rehema Ministries is working to provide medical care, food distributions, and pay for school fees for over 125 children in Tanzania. The cost to accomplish that is around $100,000 a year.
Monday night, their “Sing for Africa” fundraiser included many local choirs and singers coming together to put on a benefit show.
“It’s just a fun night showcasing some of our wonderful talent we have right here at Siouxland,” said Project Rehema’s president, Kelli Solsma. “Our fundraiser tonight is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Without our donors and people coming out tonight to just celebrate what we’re doing, we couldn’t do what we do.”
Project Rehema set a goal to raise $25,000 through the “Sing for Africa” event.
KTIV’s Matt Breen was the emcee for the evening and Chief Meteorologist Ron Demers also made an appearance as the pianist for the Celebration Choir.
