Sky down: Customers fume as broadband outage hits again

Customers are reporting issues with Sky’s broadband service this morning (Sky)

Update: Sky has confirmed the issue has now been resolved.

A spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘The majority of Sky customers impacted by the intermittent issues with Broadband and Talk should now have their service restored. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.’

Original story: Sky customers in parts of the UK are fuming after a broadband outage stripped their internet access overnight.

Reports of problems have surfaced from locations such as Cardiff, Swansea, Kent and Essex.

The website Downdetector, which measures outages in popular services, shows that problems began at 7pm last night.

Many reports died off through the night as irritated customers headed to bed, but it turns out some are still experiencing issues this morning.

One frustrated customer commented: ‘Was down until 10:15 last night in Sittingbourne which was annoying because I had some work I had to do so didn’t end up finishing until gone midnight.

‘Working fine again this morning and then at 9:57, 3 minutes before a meeting it went down again! Sky are an utter shambles.’

Sky says it is aware of the issue and has got engineers working to solve the problems.

The broadband provider has been using its Twitter to respond to complaints.

Others were a little more forgiving.

Sky broadband offers a status checker tool that any customer can use to find out if there are any issues affecting them.
