SNL Mocks Herschel Walker Gaffes, Comes Up With “plan b” for Georgia runoff

Saturday Night Live took aim at Republican Herschel Walker and came up with a “Plan B” for the GOP to keep him out of trouble ahead of the Georgia Senate runoff election.

With only days left before final votes are cast in Georgia, James Austin Johnson as Mitch McConnell came up with an unusual solution to shore up the Republican’s chances.

During SNL’s cold open, Johnson’s McConnell acknowledged during crunch talks at the White House that the Republicans “face an uphill battle” with the DemocratsRaphael Warnock polling roughly 10 points ahead of Walker.

Moments later Kenan Thompson, as Walker, stepped into the room and greeted Johnson as “Mitch McDonald’s” before apologizing for being late as he was “having too much fun in that free merry-go-round you have out front.”

“That’s a revolving door,” Johnson said before asking Thompson’s Walker to sit down for a strategy meeting with John Cornyn and Marsha Blackburn, portrayed by Mikey Day and Cecily Strong respectively.

When asked whether he knew Cornyn, Thompson simply said “no,” before being introduced to Blackburn who he referred to as “your highness.”

Thompson then expressed a positive outlook for his chances on Tuesday, adding: “My ex-wife said all I do is run off.”

Johnson’s McConnell leading Kenan’s Walker into a panic room. The sketch addressed Walker’s multiple gaffes and scandals on the campaign trail.

Strong’s Blackburn said polling was “close” with Warnock polling at 59.4 percent while Walker stood at 49.1 percent.

“Well, the first priority is to figure out which [number] is bigger,” Thompson’s Walker said.

Johnson’s McConnell stressed the Republicans needed to be “really careful” as Walker had been embroiled in some major gaffes and scandals, a nod to the allegation the candidate took women he had been in relationships with to have abortions. Walker has denied the claims.

Johnson then asked: “Is there anything else we should know in the final stretch.”

Thompson’s Walker admitted with glee there were “so many” more scandals that could torpedo the Republican’s chances in Georgia.

The camera then focused in on a clock whose hands were quickly spinning forward, indicating that Thompson’s Walker was listing many more protentially controversial stories.

Although these were not specified in any detail, the clock scene ended with Thompson’s Walker commenting: “Anyway, she didn’t want to keep it. So, I drove her down to the planned parent trap.”

The confessions proved to be a stunning revelation for the three veteran Republicans, leading all three to recommend Walker lay low and “focus on the message” until the end of the election.

“Exactly, just like Kanye (West),” Thompson’s Walker replied. This comment, alluding to the rapper’s anti-Semitic comments, and Walker’s propensity for gaffes proved to be a step too far for the trio.

Keen to have a moment alone, Strong’s Blackburn threw a blanket over Thompson so that he would fall asleep so they could debate what to do next.

Johnson’s McConnell then acknowledged they would need to go with their “Plan B” option. When Thompson awoke from his brief slumber, Johnson led him to a panic room at the other side of the room.

Thompson’s Walker was ecstatic when he saw the space and questioned why he was already inside. “That’s a mirror,” McConnell answered.

He continued: “Go on ahead, you’ve got everything you need in there.” With Thompson inside, Johnson said it would only be “for a few days.”

According to FiveThirtyEight, the four latest polls have Warnock leading over his Republican rival, although Walker has previously taken a lead in the race.

Newsweek has contacted Walker’s campaign for comment.

Weekend Updates Takes Aim at Kanye

Walker was not the only figure SNL took aim at with Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost tackling the ongoing downfall of Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.

In his segment, Jost addressed Ye’s controversial comments where he praised Adolf Hitler during an interview this week with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

Jost said: “You guys are not going to believe this, but Alex Jones and Kanye West got together this week, and it didn’t go great.”

He added: “Kanye West made anti-Semitic jokes and said, I like Hitler, which is also the password he used to get into Mar-a-Lago.

“At this point, I don’t think Kanye is off his meds so much as he’s immune to them. We’re basically dealing with the omicron variant of Kanye. We thought he’d fade away, but now we realize we may have to live with the brain fog of long-haul Kanye.”

Jost continued: “What I don’t understand with all this Kanye stuff is that if Jews do control the media, then how are we seeing a new interview with Kanye every day. Also, if Jews control the media, explain the 80ft Christmas tree outside of NBC.”
