South African rand weaker towards greenback

JOHANNESBURG Oct 20 (Reuters) – The South African rand was weaker in early commerce on Friday towards the U.S. greenback as international focus stays on battle within the Center East.

At 0742 GMT, the rand traded at 19.0875 towards the greenback , about 0.3% weaker than its earlier shut.

The greenback final traded round 0.1% stronger towards a basket of world currencies.

“World markets are risky, which creates dangers of spillover, however total, the rand appears unlikely to go very far in both route,” stated Rand Service provider Financial institution analysts in a morning briefing.
