Southeast Asia-bound waste paper prices plunge on weak demand

TOKYO — Prices for waste paper exports to Southeast Asia remain low on weak demand in the region and rising supplies from other countries, pointing to a global slump in the paper industry.

For cardboard waste exports from the US, Europe and Japan, prices fell by 40-50% last fall and have remained low ever since.
