Because the Israel-Hamas conflict started in October, Nayera Ahmed, a 19-year-old mass communications scholar in Cairo, has stopped hanging out at her native Starbucks. The American espresso chain has appeared on a number of client boycott lists being circulated on Egyptian social media.

“Me and my buddies, we used to go to Starbucks on a regular basis, now it’s a disgrace in case you’re seen at a kind of,” Ahmed stated. “It’s the least we are able to do. Why would I purchase from these Western firms?”
