in a new interview With British broadcaster Piers Morgan, porn star Stormy Daniels suggested that former President Donald Trump may need to be jailed, but not for anything related to her.
“In my case specifically, I don’t think his crimes against me are worthy of imprisonment,” Daniels said in the interview, which aired Thursday.
“I feel like the other things he’s done, if he’s convicted, absolutely.”
trump was indicted March 30 by a Manhattan grand jury for a $130,000 hush money payment to Daniels, who says she received the money before the 2016 election to keep quiet about an alleged affair with him. Trump, who denies the affair ever took place, is now the first former US president to face criminal prosecution.
On Tuesday, Trump appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court, where pleaded not guilty to 34 felony chargesincluding charges related to Daniels’ hush money.
In her first on-air interview since the impeachment, Daniels told Morgan that she thought she would feel “excited and vindicated” to learn that Trump had been impeached, but actually felt “anti-climactic.” Still, she said that he has been “dethroned” and “is no longer untouchable.”
Judge Juan Merchan, who is in charge of the Trump case, set December 4 as he next in-person court date. Daniels told Morgan that he will “absolutely” testify if she asks him.
“It’s daunting, but I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I have nothing to hide.”
Trump is currently facing other criminal investigations, including for his efforts to cancel the results of the 2020 elections in Georgiahis role in inciting the stroke at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and his driving of classified documents.
“To me, those are more significant crimes, you know what I mean? Mine is a person. And obviously it’s the most important thing to me because it’s me.” Daniels testified, saying the violence on January 6 “seems like it’s something bigger.”
During a post-arraignment speech On Tuesday, Trump referenced these investigations, saying the “only crime” he committed was trying to “defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it.”
