LNG strike talks in Western Australia ended without resolution last night, Woodside confirmed this morning, although no strike notice has been filed so far. He lack of result Gas prices in Europe fell 14% overnight. The unions had promised to activate an option to give the required seven working days’ notice to start a strike if yesterday’s talks failed to make a breakthrough.
Meanwhile, the gas infrastructure Operator APA Group has agreed to buy Alinta Energy’s power grids in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, in a $1.72 billion deal it is set to shake up power generation assets in the country’s mining heartland. APA will raise A$675 million of capital to finance the purchase.
