ISLAMABAD (AP) — A strong earthquake rocked Pakistan’s capital Islamabad and other parts of the country Tuesday, prompting residents to flee their homes.
The US Geological Survey said the center of the 6.5-magnitude quake was located 40 kilometers (25 miles) south-southeast of Jurm, Afghanistan, in Afghanistan’s Hindukush region.
The quake was felt across Pakistan. The country’s meteorological office said the quake had a magnitude of 7.7.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
