Student dies in ‘tragic bike accident’ on university campus

A woman has died while riding a bike around a university campus, police have confirmed.

Officers rushed to the University of Nottingham’s Park Campus today, responding to what has been described as a “tragic accident” on East Drive’s junction with Keighton Hill.

Police say that the 21-year-old was riding an electric bicycle in the early hours of this morning when she sustained serious injuries during the road traffic incident.

Despite the best efforts of medics, the woman was pronounced dead in hospital and her parents have been informed.

Officers and police vehicles have been at the location since the morning.

A university security officer said the incident occurred last night, while a police officer said the incident involved two bikes. Two Lime bikes were visible in the police cordon, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
