As students and staff travel back to State College to begin the 2024 fall semester, the Borough of State College has released travel restrictions and parking changes for student move-in.
The travel restrictions include:
From 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Aug. 17 to Aug. 18:
East Calder Way between Sowers Street and Hetzel Street will be turned into a one-way northbound along with Hetzel Street between East Calder Way and East Beaver Avenue westbound.
From 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Aug. 17 to Aug. 19:
There will be a temporary one-way pattern heading south on East Calder Way between South Garner Street and Hiester Street.
From 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 21 to Aug. 24:
The left lane will be closed on West College Avenue between South Burrowes Street and North Atherton Street.
From 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 22 to Aug. 24:
East College Avenue from High Street to Ramp A and High Street between East Beaver Avenue and East College Avenue will each be restricted to a single lane.
From 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Aug. 23 to Aug. 24:
Heading south, H Alley will be turned into a one-way street from West Calder Way to West Beaver Avenue.
Parking changes include:
From 2:00 a.m. Aug.19 to 2:00 a.m. Aug. 26:
The “No Parking 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.” restriction will be lifted
From 6:00 a.m. Aug. 19 to 6:00 a.m. Aug. 25:
The one- and two-hour restrictions in residential neighborhoods will be lifted.
It’s important to note that all enforcement will return to normal at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 26 and lawn parking will not be permitted.
The Borough of State College also noted that the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code Violation will be strictly enforced.
The Vehicle Code Violation enforces:
- No parking on the sidewalk
- No parking within an intersection
- No parking on a crosswalk
- No parking within 20 feet of crosswalk at an intersection
- No parking 30 feet of a stop sign
- No parking over 12 inches from the curb
- No parking against traffic
- No parking in front of driveways
Cars in violation of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code Violation will be subject to ticketing and towing. All other parking violations outside the Vehicle Code will also be enforced. All parking meters are also enforced from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
