Suspects in kidnapping of Afghan envoy’s daughter to be arrested soon: Sheikh Rashid

Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has stated on Sunday that suspects in abduction of Afghan ambassador’s daughter will be apprehended soon, most probably in a day or two.

While addressing a presser, the interior minister has stated that as per the reports, the Afghanistan’s ambassador’s daughter took a cab to Khadda Market for shopping.

He further revealed that from Khadda Market, the ambassador’s daughter took another cab to Rawalpindi.

The only point yet to be investigated is did she reach Daman-e-Koh from Rawalpindi, Sheikh Rashid went on to say.

He further accused India of facilitating the abduction of the ambassador’s daughter, so that the image of Pakistan could be maligned.

“We will present the entire, true picture in front of the world,” he stated while adding that the significance of Pakistan in the region has soared owing to PM Imran Khan’s succesful foreign policy steps.

He mentioned that Pakistan won’t allow its soil to be used against Afghanistan.

It is pertinent to note that the daughter of Afghanistan Ambassador to Pakistan Najibullah Alikhil was kidnapped by unknown persons in Islamabad on Friday, the Foreign Office said in a statement issued on Saturday.

In this regard, the Foreign Office said that the culprits behind an incident involving the daughter of the ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan are being traced to be brought to justice.

According to the statement, immediately after the disturbing incident was reported, the Islamabad Police launched a thorough investigation.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant security authorities are closely in contact with the ambassador and his family and extending full support in the matter,” the statement stated

“It is reiterated that the safety and security of the diplomatic missions, as well as the diplomats and their families, is of utmost importance. Such incidents can and will not be tolerated,” the statement said.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of man-handling of the daughter of the Afghanistan ambassador to Pakistan.

The prime minister ordered the concerned authorities to take every possible step to arrest the culprits behind assaulting the Afghan ambassador’s daughter and bring out the facts within 48 hours.
