The mystery involves the disappearance of two young men from Ludhiana, who had reportedly drifted towards Pakistan due to the strong current in the Sutlej near the village of Gajniwala in this border district. Later, they were seized by the Pakistan Rangers, police sources said.
According to the information, the youths have been identified as Ratanpal and Harvinder Singh from Sidhwan Bet in Jagraon of Ludhiana.
Meanwhile, Jasvir Singh, Sarpanch from Parchia Biharipur village of Sidhwa Bet in Jagraon, along with a few others met with police officers at Lakho ke Behram police station. Harvinder, who belongs to my village along with his friend Ratanpal, had come to pay homage to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Jasvir said. “Someone informed us that both Harvinder and Ratanpal had disappeared in Sutlej and been captured by Pakistani Rangers,” he said.
Police said the matter was dealt with by the BSF and Pakistan Rangers, adding that according to police information, this incident happened yesterday. The police said that only the BSF could solve the problem with the Rangers.
The sources said that a flag meeting was held between the BSF and the Pakistan Rangers on this issue.
