  • Warning over ‘bonus’ Centrelink payment

Aussies are being warned to watch out for a scam claiming they are entitled to a “bonus” cash payment from Centrelink. Scammers are trying to steal people’s personal information and lure them in with fake cost-of-living relief.

Services Australia said Aussies should “beware of misleading information” shared on unofficial websites and social media accounts. • Metro opening ‘bigger change than Sydney Harbour Bridge launch’

The biggest change since the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. That’s a big claim from NSW’s Transport Minister Jo Haylen speaking of the opening of Sydney’s new $21 billion Metro line this morning.

Haylen said the unveiling is a “truly historic moment” and 200,000 people are expected to use the service on Monday.

A trip between Chatswood and Sydenham takes about 22 minutes with the new metro, while travelling between Sydenham and Tallawong will take just under an hour.

Speeds reach up to 100km/h on the new line, with Sydney Metro chief executive Peter Regan reminding people to hold on when the train takes off.

The seven-year project was meant to officially open on August 4 but was pushed back due to safety testing.
