Hosts USA upset Pakistan in a thrilling super over of the T20 World Cup in Dallas on Thursday.
Pakistan struggled after being put in to bat and were left reeling at 26/3 before captain Babar Azam and Shadab Khan rescued them with 44 and 40 respectively.
A total of 159/7 appeared decent considering the strength of their bowling unit. But USA made a mockery of Pakistan’s pace attack with skipper Monank Patel and Andries Gous taking them to 104/2 in 13 overs.
Aaron Jones remained unbeaten on 36 as USA appeared on course for an easy win, but Pakistan tighened their bowling to force a super over.
Mohammad Amir was erratic in super over as he leaked 18 runs, of which 7 were byes. Pakistan couldn’t chase it down and could only make 13.
