Taste Flav got here out to have fun excellence on the Recording Academy Honors introduced by the Black Music Collective on Thursday, the place Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz every obtained the Recording Academy World Impression Award.
Taste Flav walked the carpet on the star-studded occasion, and spoke with ET’s Denny Directo about being part of the massive gala.
“It feels actual nice to be right here tonight man,” Taste Flav, 64, shared. “I am honored to see an entire bunch of my favourite celebs.”
Trying again at one of many evening’s main honorees — Kravitz — Taste Flav shared a heartwarming reminiscence of getting an opportunity to fulfill the “Fly Away” singer for the primary time this previous September on the iHeartRadio Music Pageant, and the way a lot they have been each moved by the second.
“Let me let you know one thing, I went completely loopy once I met Lenny,” he recalled. “And when Lenny met me, he cried.”
“He was like, ‘Wow, Taste Flav, that is wonderful, bro!'” the continued. “However, yo man, it made me shed a tear too, man.”
The second was captured on video, which Taste Flav shared to TikTok on the time. The hip hop icon captioned the publish, “Its LIKE THAT with LENNY KRAVITZ.”
“I used to be blissful to fulfill my brother, man. You understand what I am saying?” Taste Flav shared. “I’ve at all times been [a fan]. Love me some Lenny Kravitz, man.”
Thursday’s gala is a part of the annual week-long lead-up to the 2024 GRAMMYs, and when requested to look again at a GRAMMYs second that stood out for him, Taste Flav recalled a time “means again within the day” when Younger MC received the GRAMMY for Greatest Rap Efficiency for “Bust a Transfer,” and Taste Flav crashed his acceptance speech.
“He had received a GRAMMY, and I ran up on stage and interrupted his acceptance speech and the group went loopy. You understand what I am saying?” Taste Flav mirrored. “I feel that is the place Kanye received it from. I used to be the primary to do it.”
The 2024 GRAMMY Awards might be held on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET and broadcast and streamed reside on CBS and Paramount+ from Crypto.com Area in Los Angeles.
