The three girls, aged 12, 13 and 14, were charged after the 13-year-old girl was allegedly held against her will, beaten and stabbed in an hour-long ordeal at a home in Tewantin, near Noosa. Heads in Queensland. March 11th.
The images uploaded to social media sparked mass outrage and widespread anger in the state.
Police now say one of the suspected offenders, the 14-year-old, has also been charged with a second attack that occurred on a bus six days earlier.
The footage appears to show the girl repeatedly punching another teenager on the bus along with two other girls.
The alleged incident took place on March 5 in Noosaville and is still under investigation.
Police say they won’t rule out charging more people.
The two youngest girls from the March 11 incident have been released, but the 14-year-old girl remains behind bars and is due to appear in court next month.
This morning, the victim’s 13-year-old sister told 9News that her brother was recovering “very well” after the ordeal.
The victim’s sister, whose name remains anonymous for legal reasons, said her “strong” sister is on the mend.
“I saw her two nights ago and she was laughing,” he said in a phone interview with Today.
“We are all giving her love and trying to rebuild her.
“(She) is doing very well. Everyone is supporting her. They have given her a lot of love.
“She’s a very strong girl.”
The sister added that the family is in shock over the alleged assault.
