Teenagers SHOT while leaving a tavern in KZN

Two teenage boys were shot during a drive-by shooting after leaving a tavern in KwaZulu-Natal.

BOYS SHOT WHILE LEAVING TAVERN

According to the victims, the two had left a tavern in Cottonlands on Friday. They travelled in their bakkie in the direction of Ndwedwe, KZN.

But suddenly they realised they were being followed. Suddenly, gunshots were being fired, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said.

“The driver sped up when the occupants of the vehicle following them opened fire.”

The teens veered off the road and crashed their car. Running in fear, they managed to flee on foot where they hid in nearby bushes from their attackers, said RUSA.

After a brief period, they exited the bush and sought help. They received help from a resident who transported them to RUSA for assistance.

Reaction Unit South Africa said a Toyota Quantum arrived at their headquarters at around 21h55 on Friday night.

In the vehicle were the injured teenage boys.

It turns out the two teenage boys, both aged 19, were shot in a drive-by shooting. The two suffered several gunshot wounds while leaving a tavern in Cottonlands, said RUSA.

“One of the boys was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his right arm, back and abdomen.”

The second teenager was discovered to have suffered an injury to his head, RUSA said.

“The injured males were stabilised before being transported to hospital by ambulance.”

A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENED IN THE SAME PLACE LAST YEAR

Exactly a year ago, in October 2021, two men were killed after being shot outside a tavern also in Cottonlands.

RUSA also attended to this scene as they received multiple calls about the shootings in the vicinity of the tavern.

They arrived to find a man lying on the ground outside the tavern. A second man was located outside a neighbouring property.

Both had suffered gunshot wounds to the back and were declared dead.

“According to witnesses, at least five men approached the tavern and shot the first victim. They then forced the patrons inside the premises and locked the door. One of the suspects allegedly informed his accomplices hat they had shot the wrong person.”
