Tesco and Asda in Easter egg price war – Cadbury’s Creme Eggs cheaper

Cadbury Creme Eggs are cheaper this year than they were in 2025, a new analysis has revealed. Amid the cost-of-living crisis, many supermarket items are going up in price, including staples such as rice and flour. The war in the Middle East might add extra pressure on top of that, experts have warned. While Brits might expect everything to be more expensive in 2026, healthy competition between supermarkets occasionally pushes prices down.

That seems to be the case with certain Easter chocolate products. UK households will be heading to their local supermarkets to buy Easter eggs and other sweet treats in the lead-up to Easter Sunday on April 5. And it’s good news for those British shoppers. “Fierce competition between retailers has helped to keep price rises in check over the past month, with promotions across various products, including seasonal chocolates,” Andrew Opie, of the British Retail Consortium, revealed.

Analysing the price of Easter chocolate this year compared to 2025, consumers might notice a drop in price for a number of items.

For example, a Cadbury Creme Egg cost 75p at Asda a year ago but is now 70p. Meanwhile, eight packs of the treats were £4.75 on a Tesco Clubcard deal, but the offer is now £4.50.

That isn’t the only difference customers will notice this year. The Kinnerton Bluey Egg 50g, for example, was £1.48 in April 2025, but Asda now has it for £1.25.

Additionally, the Milkybar White Chocolate Egg is £1.40, down from £1.48 last year.

The M&S Collection Extra Thick Pistachio & Milk Chocolate Egg is still priced at £20, the same as in 2025. Plus, the M&S Outrageously Chocolatey Custard Cream Biscuity Egg is still £12.

This has all happened even though the price of chocolate is up 14.2% in a year.

Sarah-Jane Outten, shopping expert at MyVoucherCodes, said new Easter egg varieties sold over the past few years had added more competition to the market.

“This is a nice little win for consumers, who have ended up with both more choice and lower prices,” she said.
