The government appoints Ravneet Kaur president of the ICC for the next five years

Competition Commission of India

The government has appointed Ravneet Kaur as the chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI), as per an official order.

There has not been a full-time chairman for the competition regulator since Ashok Kumar Gupta stepped down in October 2022.

Sangeeta Verma, a CCI member, has been acting as chairperson since October last year.

The appointment of Ravneet Kaur, an IAS officer from the 1988 Punjab cadre, will be for a term of five years from the date he took office or until the date he reaches the age of 65 or until further orders, whichever occurs first, according to the order of May 15.

The president will get a consolidated salary of Rs 4,50,000 per month without a house or a car, he added.
