Global non-profit organization ‘She Changes Climate’ launched a special initiative on International Women’s Day titled ‘Embrace Equity’ aimed at amplifying women’s voices around the impacts of climate change.
“She Changes Climate raises awareness of the crucial role women play in accelerating just climate action. She is committed to ensuring that women, in all their diversity, can make critical decisions to save humanity, ”said a press release from the NGO.
The India event took place at One8 Commune–Fistwhere discussions and networking were led by Shreya Ghodawat, Sustainability Advisor and Impact Leader.
“The main goal of the event was to inspire and encourage women to have more space in climate change conversations and lead innovative climate action solutions,” said Ghodawat, who now as an ambassador is advancing the vision of She Changes Climate at India.
“I am committed to promoting justice, equity, equal rights, colonialism and climate solutions,” she said.
Among those who attended the event were women leaders and influencers from corporate, social, political and sustainability environments, namely Payal Rajpal (Head of Robotex India and IBTC Estonia), Pooja Anand (Chairperson of the Women’s Cell of Congress of Pune City), Ruby Pashankar (Managing Partner – Limban Resorts), Avani Awasthee, Pooja Misal (Founder, Director – SMEF’s Brick Group of Institutes), Sheetal Ranka (Co-Founder – Ranka Jewellers), Tejaswini Pawar (Senior Vice President – Dentsu) , Meenal Patil (RJ – Radio One Pune), Namrata Kriplani, Dimple Dhalwani, Divya Chavan Jachak, Pronoti Shroff, Tejaswini Patil (Trustee: Mauli Vidyapeeth) and others.
A special film made by She Changes Climate in partnership with Visionary Pictures was also screened on the occasion. The film captures seven powerful voices addressing the importance of a gender narrative in climate change, leadership, indigenous rights, and scientific research, according to the release.
