‘The Palace Papers’: New book to explore the modern Royal Family

After Prince Harry revealed that he is set to publish an intimate memoir in 2022, Tina Brown, author of The Diana Chronicles, a New York Times bestseller announced that she will be publishing The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor – The Truth and Turmoil in April 2022.

Tina Brown targets the Royal Family

According to Tatler, 2022 will be a big year for the Royal Family. The Queen will celebrate her Jubilee, which marks 70 years of her reign. It will also see these two “explosive” books make their debut.

With the announcement of the book, it was revealed that Brown will reportedly chart the 25 years since the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, from the Queen’s “loosening grip” on the institution to the seismic defection of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

According to the Telegraph, the book will also explore the tension between Princes William and Harry, the “unquestionable” rise of the Duchess of Cambridge, and the abuse allegations surrounding Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein.

She surely did her homework

Brown, a journalist and former TatlerVanity Fair and New Yorker editor, was married to the late Sir Harold Evans, a former editor of The Sunday Times. Her book, The Diana Chronicles, published in 2007, is widely thought to be the definitive biography of the late Princess and is based on more than 250 interviews with members of her inner circle.

Like Prince Harry’s memoir, The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor – The Truth and Turmoil will be published in the UK by Penguin Random House. Penguin reportedly claimed it would “tell the real story” of the Windsors since 1997. The publisher also told the Telegraph it was “full of powerful revelations, nuanced details and searing insight” and will “irrevocably change the way readers perceive and understand the Royal family”.

A fascinating journey

Meanwhile, Brown told the publication that it has been a fascinating journey.

“This is, above all, the survival story of a family in which the pre-eminence of duty is in constant tension with the very human desires of love, ambition and the longing for escape. Writing it has been a fascinating journey.”
