Two defendants who were arrested by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) They were reportedly trained agents of Pakistan’s ISI. SSOC’s investigation thus far finds that the defendants were involved in cross-border drug and weapons smuggling.
SSOC Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Ashwani Kapur said two .30 caliber pistols and 10 live cartridges were also recovered from the defendant’s possession.
Defendant Gurpreet Singh alias Gora, a model and singer by profession, played a crucial role in facilitating the movement of hawala money, an illegal method of transferring funds that financed cross-border smuggling activities.

The other defendant, Rohit Singh, provided location coordinates to Pakistani entities along the Rajasthan and Punjab border through Gurpreet Singh and facilitated the recovery of heroin shipments via drones.
Both the arrested people have criminal records as cases under NDPS are registered against them in Punjab while NCB was also looking for them in a commercial quantity drug smuggling case registered in Rajasthan.
AIG Ashwani Kapur said preliminary investigations suggest the people arrested were key members of a highly organized cross-border smuggling unit that had direct links to Pakistan-based drug smugglers. The module was actively involved in smuggling contraband across the India-Pakistan border, posing a significant threat to national security, he said.
The AIG said investigations are underway to identify and arrest other individuals associated with this module.
