‘They’re after me now’: Somizi confides in MaMkhize about R3.5m tax debt

South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo asked businesswoman and Royal AM owner Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize for her tax lawyer on the latest episode of his reality show, which aired on Showmax on Wednesday 25 May. 


Somizi Mhlongo asked MaMkhize for both her tax and divorce lawyer’s contact details on the latest episode of the show. The media personality explained that the taxman was after him on the episode. 

“I need you to connect me to the person… your tax lawyer. Because they’re after me now,” he asked.

“Are they also after you? I will send it to you fast and furious,” she responded.

He went to to seemingly imply that they were getting too personal and he wanted things done the right way.

“They’re trying to be personal and I won’t entertain any of that. I want everything to be done lawfully,” he continued.

Sunday World reported that Somizi’s luxury furniture was auctioned off. This was because he failed to pay R3.5 million in tax which he reportedly owed since 2014. 

The items auctioned off included “a Samsung washing machine, a white sculpture (Guman Head), Le Creuset bowl, three plastic bar chairs, two red human statues, a Hisense television set with a remote, a Smeg dishwasher, two brass painted coffee tables, one Carrol

Boyes knife set with stand, a Carrol Boyes bowl, five various Le Creuset pots, a Gold Air gas heater, a DeLonghi oil heater, a Samsung fridge, a silver kitchen bowl, three glass vases, eight cushions, a sleeper couch, a wooden TV stand with drawers, dining chairs and a table and knife set with stand,” according to the publication.
