This Diablo IV quest rewards you with great loot and a touching story

A search line in Diablo IV is attracting players not just for good loot, but because it has a strong mental health message that makes you feel significant beyond what is real benefits.

The mission begins with A Question of Self and follows Taissa, a character who is dealing with a mental health struggle related to DevilWe don’t need to get into spoilers here, but according to Senior Quest Designer Harrison Pink, Taissa’s story, even down to the flavor text on the gear you receive for completing it, was meant to deal with mental health and grief.

in a thread of TwitterPink explained that the quest line was about “overcome grief and trauma” and how you can’t force progress through brute force.

At the end of the mission, you receive the Mark of the Conclave, which is an amulet that includes a letter from another character originally intended for Taissa, and includes words of encouragement for her that have been comforting to her. Diablo IV players there is a whole reddit thread of people talking about the message and how they are dealing with their own mental health issues. The flavor text of the amulet reads:

Healing is a journey. A series of steps. Some days you may stumble, but as long as you keep putting one foot in front of the other, you will reach your destination.

Aside from having a lovely message, the Mark of the Conclave is actually a pretty cool accessory to have. As YouTuber Cooley explains, the accessory can increase your life stat, and since it’s a rare item, you can reroll your stat boosts with the occultist. Doing this means you can have a great addition to your life. So if you haven’t done these quests yet, take the time. You’ll get a nice side story and walk away with a great prop.
