Fresh chaos has broken out tonight at a murder scene where a 16-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by up to 10 people outside a Melbourne shopping centre.
Six men were arrested after police said the teenager was approached by a group of eight to 10 males on Neale Road outside Brimbank Shopping Centre in Deer Park just after 4pm.
He was stabbed and died at the scene.
The group fled and six were arrested nearby a short time later on Billingham Road.
Hours later, with the road now a major crime scene, a brawl broke out with a large group of people seen running near a taped-off area as police tried to stop them.
During the commotion, one police officer was knocked to the ground and appeared to be injured before he was helped to his feet by a bystander.
A person could be heard in footage shouting “I’ll kill you” while bystanders yell for them to stop.
Three men were arrested and were being interviewed by police, AAP reports.
A police officer was taken to hospital and another man was treated for a cut to the head.
Victoria Police has been unable to confirm to 9News reports of people being at the scene, other than homicide detectives investigating the teenager’s death.
Earlier, witnesses told Nine News the group that targeted the 16-year-old had been carrying knives up their sleeves and allegedly stabbed the teen “multiple times” in the chest and stomach.
The brawl is believed to have been sparked by an argument on social media.
“He’s a good kid, he goes to church. He comes from a good family, a humble family. It’s just so unfortunate this has happened to him,” family friend Foa Galuega said.
“They all ran to him, there was about 10 or 15 of them,” said another eye witness Luke Mears.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
