Three-legged cat desperate for new home after being dumped outside Battersea

A three-legged cat is looking for a loving new home after she was found abandoned in a carrier outside the gates of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Hopper, a domestic shorthair cat, was just two-months-old when she was discovered alone by staff at the animal charity.

After being taken in and examined by Battersea’s veterinary team, it was revealed the tiny kitten had a severe leg injury, which was likely present from birth.

Sadly, the injury was causing her pain and putting her at risk of ongoing infections, meaning vets had to make the difficult decision to amputate her affected leg.

But despite the tough start to life, Hopper has bounced back from surgery and hasn’t let having three legs hold her back.

The playful kitten now spends her days racing around her pen, showing off her speed and confidence as she chases her favourite ping pong ball and attacks her collection of knitted mice.

And when she’s not busy playing, Hopper shows off her softer side and quickly turns into a cuddle-loving companion.

Battersea said she “absolutely loves attention” and will happily climb onto a welcoming lap for strokes, chin scratches and plenty of affection.

The charity is now hoping to find Hopper a forever home where she can continue to thrive.

She would suit a family with children of any age who can give her lots of playtime, love and companionship.

Due to her three-legged adventures, Hopper will need access to a secure private garden away from busy roads so she can safely explore her surroundings.

Anyone interested in giving Hopper a home can contact Battersea’s rehoming team at cat.rehoming@battersea.org.uk or visit the charity’s website.
