Tigers champion Dustin Martin returns to Punt Road

Richmond star Dustin Martin has returned to Punt Road for the first time since the club granted him indefinite leave for personal reasons.

The Tigers’ midfielder had spent time in Sydney before returning to Melbourne early this week with the Tigers confirming he did a session at the club on Saturday morning.

There is still no timeframe on when he may return to action for the Tigers, but the club will be pleased to welcome him back.

Martin played in round one but had been taking time away from the club as he dealt with personal issues including the loss of his father Shane, who died last year in New Zealand

Richmond was happy to provide Martin – who won three Norm Smith medals for best on ground in three Tiger premierships – the time he needed away from the club.

The Tigers play Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday night in the Anzac Eve clash.
