Brief tornado touched down in Beaver County Sunday, NWS says

BEAVER COUNTY, Pa.

As a result of heavy downpours and severe storms on Sunday, the National Weather Service confirmed that a brief tornado touched down in Beaver County.

Officials told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that an EF-0 tornado touched down in the area of Upper Service Road in Greene and Raccoon Townships.

The National Weather Service said in a preliminary storm report that winds reached up to 75 miles per hour, with a path width of roughly 50 yards.

Multiple trees were damaged as a result of the tornado.

National Weather Service officials said certain areas in Westmoreland and Armstrong counties are being evaluated after reports of “potential storm damage.”
