Torrential Rain Causes Flooding in Northeastern Turkey

Heavy rain caused intense flooding in the northeastern Turkish provinces of Artvin and Rize on Thursday, July 22, prompting police rescues. Two hundred people were evacuated from the region, according to reports. As the flooding caused damage to local water lines, Red Crescent trucks drove through neighborhoods to hand out drinking water, said Deputy Minister of the Interior Ismail Catakli.
