Tragedy as boy, 13, dies and woman in hospital after horror motorway crash

A young teenager has sadly died following a crash on the M4 on Saturday. Emergency services rushed to the scene between junctions 16 and 17 on the major motorway following reports of an incident happening at approximately 8pm.

The 13-year-old boy was a passenger in a Toyota RAV-4, which was allegedly in collision with a Renault van, Wiltshire Police said today. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the Toyota, a woman, was rushed to hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles were not seriously injured, the force said.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the teenager at this incredibly difficult time and we ask that their privacy is respected.

“We need to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage.
