Travel is not recommended in parts of Kandiyohi County, Tribune delivery on Saturday will be delayed

WILLMAR — Icy roads from freezing temperatures, gusty winds, recent snow and intermittent gusts will continue Friday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Travel on the following roads is currently not recommended in west central Minnesota, according to MnDOT’s 511mn.org website.

  • US 71 from Willmar to Minnesota Highway 7
  • Minnesota Highway 23 from Willmar to Clara City
  • Minnesota Highway 7 from US 71 to Clara City
  • Minnesota Highway 40 from Willmar to the Minnesota Highway 29 interchange

Due to worsening travel conditions, the West Central Tribune delivery truck will not be traveling Friday night due to decreased visibility. The Saturday print edition of the newspaper will be delivered once road conditions improve.

Gusty northwest winds will continue to lead to patchy blowing and drifting snow across Minnesota.
Motorists should be aware that road conditions can change quickly and are urged to drive accordingly, including allowing extra space between vehicles and allowing extra time to reach destinations.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under the heading “West Central Tribune Staff Report.” Often the byline “West Central Tribune staff report” is used when rewriting basic news summaries that originate from official sources, such as a city news release about a highway closure, and that require little or no coverage. Sometimes this byline is used when a story includes multiple authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from multiple sources. If external sources are used, it is indicated within the story.
