Truck’s Attempt to Leave Highway 75 Traffic Area Kills Man

COFFEY CO., Kan. (WIBW) – An attempt to exit a parking lot in the travel area ended in tragedy after a truck and a pickup truck collided, resulting in the death of a man.

He Kansas Highway Patrol Accident Log indicates that shortly after 6 pm on Wednesday, September 13, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​Highway 75 and I-35 with reports of a 2-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 2009 Kenworth truck driven by Johnnie L. Snodgrass, 67, of Mound City, who had attempted to leave the truck stop heading north on Highway 75.

Meanwhile, KHP said a 2010 Ford Expedition driven by Angelo V. Turner, 51, of Eureka, was heading south on the highway and struck the fifth axle of Snodgrass’ semi-trailer.

First responders said Turner was pronounced dead at the scene. Snodgrass escaped the accident unharmed. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
