Trump has told Fox News what was discussed in yesterday’s talks with Xi. He said Xi had committed to not arming Iran, while the Chinese president indicated he would not back down in buying Iranian oil.
“He said he’s not going to give military equipment. That’s a big statement. He said that today,” Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in an interview in Beijing.
“He said that strongly, but at the same time, he said, you know, they buy a lot of their oil there, and they’d like to keep doing that. He’d like to see Hormuz strait opened.”
Trump said Xi wanted “a lot of things” from the US, adding “we want things from them”.
It remains unclear whether Trump has secured any new commitments from China to help reopen the crucial shipping channel.
