UK cleaning company plunges into administration – but 96 jobs saved

A cleaning company in Scotland has collapsed into administration but managed to eventually save almost 100 jobs. Tidy Green Clean, based in Aberdeen, offers commercial cleaning services across Scotland, covering sectors such as retail, medicine or hospitality.

It has several franchises, with each established as an independent limited company. One of them, the Aberdeen West franchise, announced that it was potentially facing liquidation and appointed administrators. However, its parent company Tidy Clean Green helped save all 96 members of staff who worked at the franchise.

Commenting on the events, Andrew Alleway, managing director of Tidy Green Clean said: “As soon as we understood the Aberdeen West franchise of Tidy Clean Green was going into liquidation, we worked with the administrators to proactively ensure a seamless process and all 96 employees have been retained within the business with no disruption to customers.

“We are known for our quality, carbon negative and ISO standards and whilst we are disappointed that a franchise has encountered difficulties, we are pleased that the business overall is trading well, adding new sectors and customers, and importantly that local jobs have been preserved.”

According to its website, Tidy Green Clean was the first commercial cleaning business in Scotland to achieve a Carbon Negative status via Carbon-Zero in 2021.

Even its co-founders claim to drive electric cars. The business was founded in 2016 by two brothers-in-law, one of which “played a pivotal role in establishing one of New Zealand’s top commercial cleaning companies”, the website states.

The company has had largely positive reviews on Google, scoring 4.7 out of 5 stars.
