British lawmaker Sir David Amess, of the Conservative Party, has been stabbed several times in his Southend West constituency, according to reports.
Sky News reported Friday that a man walked up to where Amess was meeting with voters and stabbed him multiple times.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Essex police said: “A man’s been arrested following an incident in Leigh-on-Sea.
“We were called to reports of a stabbing in Eastwood Rd North shortly after 12.05pm.
“A man was arrested shortly after & we’re not looking for anyone else. We’ll bring you more info when we have it.â€
