The recently established Plato Racing, a British Touring Car Championship team led by former racing driver Jason Plato, has entered administration. Plato Racing Ltd appointed administrators from Arafino Advisory on August 12, 2026, according to an official notice. The team’s “associated assets, intellectual property, commercial relationships and operational infrastructure” are all now up for sale, as revealed by Pantera Valuation Services.
The team runs a pair of Mercedes-AMG A35 Saloons for Adam Morgan and Dan Rowbottom, and made its debut at the start of the 2026 season. It recently celebrated two qualifying race wins before Morgan claimed its first championship race success in Scotland.
The sale of Plato Racing Limited “represents an opportunity to acquire a high-profile, operational motorsport platform with an established BTCC presence”, the listing states.
Interested parties are invited to register their interest by August 25, 2026.
The team recorded a turnover of £545,073 against overheads of £1,380,170, which resulted in an operating loss of £835,097, the Daily Echo reports.
It is still unclear what impact the administration will have on these roles.
Racing legend Jason Plato had stated on an ITV Sport interview with Louise Goodman last year that he would be starting his own team for 2026. Later that year, he said that the team would be run in collaboration with the RML Group.
Earlier this year, he announced that former NAPA Racing UK driver Daniel Rowbottom would pilot one of the cars for 2026.
Rowbottom took pole position for the first race after winning Saturday’s qualifying race at their debut race weekend at the Donington Park National race on April 18, 2026.
