LONDON — A British MP has been stabbed while holding a surgery for his constituents in Essex, eastern England.Â
David Amess, the long-serving Conservative MP for Southend West, was holding a drop-in session at a church in Leigh, according to the local newspaper.
A man stabbed the MP several times, his office confirmed to Sky News, after which police and medics rushed to the scene.
Amess was receiving treatment at the scene for his injuries, Sky News reported.
His condition is not currently known.
