UK regulator approves $1.52 billion deal between UnitedHealth and EMIS

Sept 29 (Reuters) – Britain’s competition regulator said on Friday it had cleared UnitedHealth Group (UNH.N) £1.24 billion ($1.52 billion) acquisition of healthcare technology company EMIS (EMISG.L).

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) confirmed that it found no competition issues in the deal between companies specializing in healthcare technology and software, which provide services to Britain’s National Health Service (NHS).

Optum UK, part of US-based UnitedHealth, unveiled a bid to acquire EMIS in June last year, to position the combined entity to better serve the NHS.
