Britain will have to bear full responsibility for its decision to supply Ukraine with depleted uranium shells, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
Peskov said on Wednesday that when NATO previously used such weapons in Yugoslavia, it had devastating consequences, including an increase in cancer and other diseases, the Xinhua news agency reported.
Those who use this ammunition must understand that they will “cause irreparable harm to themselves and their citizens” and ultimately take full responsibility for their actions, it added.
The spokesman made the remarks a day after British Minister of State for the Armed Forces James Heappey confirmed that Britain had already sent “thousands of Challenger 2 tank shells, including depleted uranium ammunition” to Kiev.
