A major UK water park is throwing open its doors just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend – and thrill-seekers have an exciting new attraction to look forward to.
The Aqualand inflatable water park is returning for the summer season, bringing with it a spectacular new mega slide tailor-made for adrenaline junkies.
Towering at 12m (39ft), the new “X Tower” promises high-speed drops, racing lanes and a pulse-racing experience that is certainly not for the faint-hearted.
While the main park reopens this week, visitors will need to exercise a little patience before tackling the impressive new addition.
Aqualand, situated at Cliff Lakes in Tamworth, near Birmingham, will reopen on Saturday (2 May), with the X Tower set to make its debut on Saturday (23 May), perfectly timed for the second Bank Holiday weekend and school holidays.
The X Tower boasts six slides, including dual racing lanes and steep drop sections engineered for maximum thrills.
The new feature forms part of a broader expansion at the site, with another addition – the “Wibit Wave” – also due to arrive this summer.
The wave-style slide stretches 15 metres and stands five metres high, delivering a more light-hearted yet still exhilarating ride, bosses say.
The water park already offers eight inflatable obstacle courses for visitors to enjoy during 80-minute sessions.
Guests must be aged six or over and at least 1.10 metres tall to participate, while younger children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must also be confident swimmers and capable of swimming 25 metres unaided before taking to the water.
Entry covers a wetsuit and buoyancy aid, with all visitors obliged to wear the appropriate safety equipment throughout their session.
Those keen to experience the X Tower will need to pay an extra £5 upgrade on top of the standard admission price.
