Union Minister Smriti Irani’s go to to Madinah spurs outrage in Pakistan

Union Minister Smriti Irani’s ‘historic go to’ to Madinah in Saudi Arabia has fuelled a meltdown in Pakistan. She met Indian volunteers who serve Haj pilgrims and interacted with Umrah pilgrims throughout her go to to Madinah on Monday.

Whereas her go to was broadly famous and shared, the transfer has drawn extreme flak in Pakistan.

Throughout her go to, the Bilateral Haj Settlement 2024 was signed between India and Saudi Arabia. As per the settlement, India has been allotted a quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims for the 2024 Haj pilgrimage.

Round 1,40,020 seats have been reserved for pilgrims who will proceed via the Haj Committee of India and 35,005 pilgrims can be permitted to journey via Haj Group Operators.
